Office Maintenance Technician and Driver

Availability: Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm; Occasional weekend and/or evening hours may be assigned as needed; part-time (up to 20 hours per week on an as needed basis).


$15-$16.50/hour, based on experience. Part time, Non-exempt position.

Job Summary

The Office Maintenance Technician and Driver will work with ACCC program staff to provide transportation for Asian Center clients for groups, field trips, and appointments as needed. When not providing transportation, the Office Maintenance Technician will work to support general office cleanliness and maintenance. Candidates must have general knowledge of vehicle functions and routine vehicle upkeep as well as general cleaning and maintenance functions (i.e. vacuuming, taking out trash, wiping counters, cleaning bathrooms, etc.).

 

Key Accountabilities

Office Maintenance Technician Responsibilities

  • Follow cleaning and maintenance procedures according to schedule provided by Office Manager
  • Perform general, routine custodial duties, to include mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies
  • Perform cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements
  • Empty trash receptacles into outside trash dumpsters, and bag trash for proper disposal on a daily basis
  • Perform routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies, making sure that all equipment, such as vacuums, are in good working order
  • Report needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
  • Lifting boxes and tubs in and out of vans for programs and events
  • May assist or perform minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities
  • Work a flexible work schedule to accommodate the agency’s needs as applicable 
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Keep track of cleaning and maintenance duties performed in timesheet and other records sheets as needed

Driver Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation for Asian Center clients to programming and/or field trip sites within a 60 mile radius of Lincoln as scheduled by the Essential Resource Program Manager and Office Manager
  • Log miles completed for each trip according to program, check that mileage has been entered correctly every time someone else uses the vehicle
  • Have knowledge of driving safety and basic functioning of vehicles, demonstrate safe driving practices
  • Ensure vehicles are filled with gas and maintenance is performed regularly; notify the the Essential Resources Program Manager and/or Office Manager when maintenance is required
  • Clean vehicles after each use and ensure every vehicle is in proper working order and returned to the correct parking space
  • Maintain good, professional relations with riders and ACCC staff; Make sure all riders are safe and comfortable at all times

 

Qualifications

  • A valid driver’s license and at least one year of driving experience to perform the job safely
  • Excellent navigation skills and proficiency in using navigation applications
  • Time management and organizational skills to stay on schedule
  • Defensive driving certification required (training available after starting position)
  • Must feel comfortable driving both a 15 passenger van and a mini van
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate team-building, problem-solving, time management, stress management, and decision-making skills
  • Must possess great communication skills including effective verbal, writing, and listening skills
  • Communicate in a friendly and informative manner with people from a wide variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds

Job Requirements

  • Candidate must complete a background check prior to starting direct work with clients.
  • Candidate must attend 3 hour paid oversized vehicle training at a time that works for them and our trainer. 
  • Once hired, candidate will be on a probationary period pending a driving performance evaluation and safety review.
